Salary & Benefits

Excellent employee benefits and a competitive stipend offer a comprehensive package for the resident while in training. Group life, health, dental and vision insurance coverage are available at low cost to the resident and his/her family. Liability and disability coverage is provided for employees of Idaho State University. Resident stipends for the 2013–2014 academic year are $50,177 (R1), $52,189 (R2), and $55,030 (R3). Idaho State University is an AA/EOE.

The benefit of facilities offered through Idaho State University include a well-equipped gymnasium with pool, weight and exercise rooms, indoor tennis and racquetball courts, wilderness equipment rental center, movie theater, and arts/crafts center. The campus offers free movies and a variety of arts and entertainment. Employees and spouses may enroll in university courses for a nominal fee, and many workshops and programs are offered at no charge to employees and their families. Recreational opportunities nearby are outstanding and include skiing, hiking, mountain biking, hunting, and—of course—blue ribbon trout fishing.

Moonlighting

Currently moonlighting relationships are established with Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, and Oneida County Hospital in Malad. We also moonlight taking care of medical history and physicals and medical concerns for the inpatient psychiatric unit in town. Residents can significantly augment their ER experience and income through moonlighting.
