The Pocatello Family Medicine Clinic serves as the family
medicine
center for the residency program. There are eighteen exam rooms,
one procedure room, two nurses stations and a preceptor room that
divides the clinic. The clinic is hardwired for electronic medical records, which
are up and running. There are separate areas
for health education and nutrition counseling and faculty offices,
including work areas for our psychologist and head
of the clinic. The Portneuf Medical Center Prenatal Clinic is
also housed in the Family Practice Center.
Specialty Clinics
Specialty clinics in dermatology, ENT, neurology, womens health,
gynecology, colposcopy are organized. Pharmacotherapeutic services
are also offered from the Family Practice Center.
Southeast Idaho HIV Clinic
Our pharmacy faculty, Dr. Hachey, and our infectious disease consultant,
Martha Buitrago, provide complete HIV services to the HIV population
of Southeast Idaho. Residents are involved in the care and management
of these patients and get longitudinal teaching on the Family
Practice Center rotation.
Obstetric Services
The Portneuf Medical Center Prenatal Clinic services are offered
through the Family Practice Center under the leadership of Dr.
Don Dyer, obstetric faculty. Residents are assigned their own
prenatal patients that they follow through pregnancy and delivery
into the post-partum time.
Geriatrics
Dr. Jean Bokelmann and the residency director, Dr. Cree, have
added certificates in geriatrics and provide in-depth geriatric
teaching to the Medicare population of the clinic, the nursing
homes and in patients homes.

With the help of the Womens Health Initiative grant, Drs. Jean Bokelmann and Bob Rush organize womens health
visits and specific GYN interventions including colposcopy, LEEP
and cryotherapy. There is an in-depth curriculum in the management
of abnormal PAP smears that gives residents the opportunity to
become competent in managing this area of their practice.

Dr. Tony Joseph is a sports medicine specialist with the added
certificate who works with our residency program, Student Health

in the sports medicine field, evaluations and treatment.

private services to his patients and is a referral and teaching
source to residents for psychological services.
