this unique program prepares you for the multidisciplined expertise
required for rural family practice.
Since our Residency Program accepts only a limited number of applicants,
each resident receives personal hands-on experience working directly
with practicing specialists.
The ISU Family
Medicine Residencys mission is to train physicians
for successful rural family practice. The three-year program is
a community based, University-affiliated program* designed to
produce skilled, caring family practice physicians. The Residency
trains 18 residents each year and is fully accredited by the ACGME.
It is affiliated with the Portneuf Medical Center, which serves
Pocatello and the surrounding communities.
The Family
Medicine Residency Program provides a broad range of
practice settings utilizing our busy local community hospital,
university teaching hospitals for pediatrics, migrant farm worker
outreach clinics, health departments and affiliated rural FP offices.
High volume obstetrical and procedural experience. Expect 170
deliveries and 40 C-sections.
High
quality, demanding internal medicine and ICU service.
State of
the art Family Medicine class and electronic conference
facilities.
All this in a small university town setting with mountain recreation
just minutes away.
